New RPC for Photoshop Feature!

Previewing RPCs and using them in Photoshop just got easier! We’ve added a new viewing mode within Dashboard called Viewport. Not only can you preview and spin around any 3D or 3D+ RPC but you can also drag & drop directly from Viewport into applications like Photoshop! Just hit the Render button and drag the thumbnail into Photoshop.

Viewport for Dashboard improves the workflow for using RPCs in Photoshop and does away with the need for the Photoshop Viewport plug-in.

Beta testing of this new feature has wrapped up so we’ll be triggering an in-Dashboard update notice on Aug 11th. In the meantime if you’d like to be one of the first to use this new feature update your Dashboard by clicking here.

New Features in Dashboard 2.1 *Viewport Mode

Dashboard Viewport offers real time previews for RPCs and the ability to drag & drop rendered views directly into any application that supports alpha masked images. Dashboard Viewport improves the workflow for Photoshop CS5 and above replacing the need for the Viewport plug-in for Photoshop!

*Filters

Filters work hand-in-hand with Channels letting you drill down to the right content in just a few clicks. When you open the Filters panel at the bottom of Dashboard you’ll find a Tag Cloud representing the tags associated with the content in that Channel. You can sort the Tag Cloud Alphabetically or by Popularity. When you select a Tag it will filter the content in that Channel to include only the assets containing that tag. Select more than one Tag to continue drilling down to just the content you’re looking for.

RPC Spotlight

Meet Jenna! Jenna is one of over 1100 RPCs you’ll find in the Dashboard People Channel. Jenna is a “Hi-Res” RPC meaning she is at least 2500 pixels in height making her great for closeups. In the newest Dashboard (click here to install/upgrade) you can search for “Jenna” and find 6 different RPCs including 2 Motion RPCs. The new Filters option lets you filter the People Channel by Casual + Female to find Jenna and 346 of her RPC friends!

The new Dashboard Viewport viewing mode even lets you scrub through those Motion RPCs to find the perfect frame in the animated sequence.

RPC Trivia: Any Dexter fans out there? Notice a resemblance between Jenna and Debra Morgan (Dexter’s sister)? We did too! Here’s the weird thing. As some of you know ArchVision is based in Lexington, Kentucky so quite a few of the models that were contracted for the RPC photo shoots are from the region. We also many times adopted the actual model’s name when naming the RPCs. Do an IMDB search for Dexter and you’ll find that Debra is played by Jennifer Carpenter. And where is Jennifer from… Louisville, Kentucky! Coincidence? Is Jenna really Jennifer? Did we catch a rising star? Every time you see Jenna in a rendering she’ll now remind you of Debra the homicide detective!

Know any other RPC doppelgangers? Send them to marketing@archvision.com with the subject line “RPC Doppelganger”.

Drag & Drop RPCs from Dashboard

You can now drag & drop RPCs directly from Dashboard into 3ds Max, Autocad and Revit! Dashboard makes it easier than ever to find just the right RPC with Search, Filters and the brand new Viewport viewing mode. After you’ve found the perfect RPC for your scene just drag & drop it directly from Dashboard!

RPC Cloud Rendering

ArchVision and Autodesk teamed up once again to make life easier for you by natively supporting RPCs in Autodesk Revit’s Render in Cloud service. There are no RPCs to upload! Just place them in your Revit model and hit Render in Cloud! That’s all there is to it. The Autodesk cloud servers talk directly to ArchVision’s cloud-based content repository so you don’t have to transfer your RPCs for rendering!

Tips & Tricks: Network Deployment

We’ve been putting more effort into making it easier for you to manage Dashboard and the RPC Plug-ins installation across a network. We now provide MSIs for Dashboard as well as Photoshop, 3ds Max, Autocad and Revit RPC Plug-ins. Using these MSIs you can easily deploy these installs across your network. Using the Dashboard MSI installer you can now override things like AutoUpdates and the Download and Content Paths across your deployments.

For 3ds Max users who need to deploy Network Rendering capabilities to dedicated rendering nodes via Backburner we’ve built a special version of Dashboard just for you!
