An upgraded Rhino license can be used with both LAN Zoo (local network) and Cloud Zoo (online) license managers. Install the Zoo License Manager on a server for LAN distribution, then add your upgraded license keys via ZooAdmin to make them available to clients on your network. With Cloud Zoo, sign in with your Rhino account, add your upgraded license to your account or team, and Rhino will check it out online.
Yes — Rhino licenses can be shared when managed through Cloud Zoo (floating online) or LAN Zoo (floating on a private network). Cloud Zoo lets a pool of licenses be used by team members anywhere, while LAN Zoo shares licenses within your LAN. Note: some educational or single-user licenses may have restrictions.
To assign a license to your Rhino Account:
A Rhino Upgrade license requires ownership of a qualifying previous version. Once upgraded, your license key provides full access to the newer version of Rhino.
You can manage the upgraded license through Cloud Zoo or LAN Zoo, or use it as a standalone license.
Upgraded commercial licenses are generally backward compatible, meaning you can still run earlier versions of Rhino (e.g., Rhino 7 after upgrading to Rhino 8) using the same license key on the same platform.
Yes — For example if a customer purchases a Rhino 8 license (not the upgrade) they can still use the older versions. All they need to do is install the desired Rhino version (6 or 7) and log in to McNeel. If upgrading from an older version to current, the user needs to purchase the license upgrade.
ArchVision RPC content is supported in Rhino when using the appropriate RPC plugin. Install and load the ArchVision RPC plugin for Rhino to browse and place RPC content (e.g., via AVAIL Browser). RPCs work with Rhino’s native render engine and with supported renderers.
