Focus on Filters
If you’ve Dashboard installed you’ve probably discovered the new Filters Panel at the bottom of the Channel Viewer. Dashboard makes getting to just the right content easy. Tabs to the left of the viewer are called Channels (People, Trees, etc). Dashboard provides Search and Filters within each Channel. The Search box at the top right provides search across the names and tags associated with the content in each Channel. Tags that have been associated with each piece of content can be viewed in the Filters Panel.
Opening the Filters Panel reveals a Tag Cloud displaying all of the tags associated with the content in that Channel. You have the option of sorting the Tags by Popularity (the default) or switching to an Alphabetical listing. Filters are a powerful tool that lets you drill down to just the right content within a Channel. The goal is that within a couple of clicks you can go from thousands of pieces of content to a handful.
Clicking on a Tag within the Filters Panel will perform a search against the content in that Channel. Click on multiple Tags and you’re performing a boolean “and” search meaning the content displayed must contain all of the chosen Tags (ie. clicking the “bmw” and “red” tags will show only “red BMWs”, not both “red cars” and “BMW cars”). For the adventurous we’ve also included an “Invert Filters” flag that will display the opposite of what you’ve selected. We’re working on providing you with the ability to add your own Tags to content. After that arrives the “Invert Filters” option becomes especially useful when you’re looking for content that’s missing a Tag!
Presentation Styles – Corbin Savopoulos
Welcome to Presentation Styles, a new section of the ArchVision blog devoted to showcasing great work that we run across along with any tips & tricks the artists can pass along.
This month we’re showcasing the work of Irvin, California-based designer Corbin Savopoulos of MVE & Partners (www.mve-architects.com) who’s figured out a way to “soften” his renderings.

RPC Spotlight – Fall Trees

It’s that time of year! Here in Kentucky (home of ArchVision HQ) fall is one of the most beautiful times of the year. If you’re a climber, the Red River Gorge which is about an hour’s drive from us in the mountains of Eastern Kentucky, is incredibly colorful and packed with climbers from all over the world. Check out this link to learn more. One caveat… if you visit and don’t stop by Lexington to say hi we’ll be disappointed!
Back to the trees! You have access to a total of 58 trees tagged “Fall” in the Trees Channel of Dashboard. Just open the Trees Channel, click on the Filters Panel and filter by “Fall” to see the offering. It’s a mix of Hi-Res 2D trees (single view) along with 16 full 3D trees that are great for animations. The Hi-Res trees are each around 2500 pixels in height providing plenty of resolution for your foreground shots.
If you want to add a little color to your renderings these Fall Trees are just the trick!

Photoshop Workflow With Viewport
Previewing RPCs and using them in Photoshop just got easier! We’ve added a new viewing mode within Dashboard called Viewport. Not only can you preview and spin around any 3D or 3D+ RPC but you can also drag & drop directly from Viewport into applications like Photoshop! Just hit the Render button and drag the thumbnail into Photoshop.

RPC Cloud Rendering
ArchVision and Autodesk teamed up once again to make life easier for you by natively supporting RPCs in Autodesk Revit’s Render in Cloud service. There are no RPCs to upload! Just place them in your Revit model and hit Render in Cloud! That’s all there is to it. The Autodesk cloud servers talk directly to ArchVision’s cloud-based content repository so you don’t have to transfer your RPCs for rendering!

Tips & Tricks: Floating License Management
A new feature of Dashboard for Admins is the ability to manage licensees. As an Admin for your account you have access to the License Administration panel found by clicking on your email address in the Dashboard interface. There you will see all of the ArchVision licenses associated with your account.
If you are managing All Access Floating Licenses you can manage the list of email addresses able to access your license. You can also see if a license is currently in use and who is using it! Each license has an associated Activation Code that can be provided to your users so they can add themselves to your license pool. So there are two ways you can add users to your Floating License pool… 1) manually add/remove their email addresses through the License Administration interface or 2) provide your users with the Activation Code associated with a license which they can enter after clicking the “Buy/Activate License” in Dashboard. *Note that users must be registered on archvision.com to be added to a license pool.
If you find you don’t have Admin priveleges contact support@archvision.com for help.
