Autodesk Revit LT Configuration
The following shows a workaround procedure for using RPCs in Revit LT. At present drag & drop support is not available. There is not an installer for Revit LT, however the necesssary files are included below and can be copied and pasted into the plug-ins folder to add support for RPC files.
1. Get the Dashboard
The first step is to install the ArchVision Dashboard.
Note: The first time ArchVision Dashboard is launched users are prompted to create an account. All users should create unique accounts.
2. Configure Content Paths (if necesssary)
The Dashboard provides Revit with the location of RPC files. The default location is C:RPC. If this is your first time using the product you can use the defaults. To customize alternative content locations:
Open Dashboard and select Preferences then Configure Paths to modify RPC path info.
Click on Add Path to add a content path and click on … to modify the download path.
3. Revit Connection Settings
In Revit’s Options dialog change the Network Address setting under Redering to connect to the local Dashboard using 127.0.0.1. Make sure that no Additional Render Appearance Paths including RPCs are used.
4. Copying the plug-in files into Revit LT
At present there is not a plug-in installer for Revit LT, however the process is very easy. Download one of the .zip files below and extract it’s contents to the Revit LT Plugins directory.
revit_lt_2018.zip
revit_lt_2017.zip
revit_lt_2016.zip
revit_lt_2015.zip
revit_lt_2014.zip
Files Included
• RPCapi.dll
• RPCcls.dll
• RPCJPeg.dll
These files should be copied to C:Program FilesAutodeskRevit LT 2016PlugIns.
5. Load an RPC Family Template File
Click on Insert then Load Family and browse for an RPC family to load.
The default location is C:ProgramDataAutodeskRLT 2016LibrariesUS ImperialEntourage.
6. Choose a Family Template file to Modify.
Locate the loaded family template under Entourage, select a family and choose Type Properties.
7. Change the Render Appearance.
Click on the name shown for Render Appearance to reveal the RPC Selection dialog. Choose the RPC you want to load when this family is used.
8. Rename the RPC
9. Drag the newly configured RPC into the scene.
Duplicate, clone and rename to modify the family and then right click and save it for future use.
